Luis Mora

President

Luis founded FINANTA, a mission-driven lending institution facilitating access to capital and consultation services for entrepreneurs, consumers, and first-time homebuyers in the Philadelphia region.  Since 1996, FINANTA has developed a substantial track record in business, homeownership, and consumer counseling, and a $58+ million lending history.  Prior to FINANTA, Luis founded and directed CoreStates Community Development and Financing, a $66 million socioeconomic and cultural investment program of CoreStates Bank, now Wells Fargo. This program was among the nation’s first nonprofit community development arms of a commercial bank.  Originally from Costa Rica, Luis holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from the University of New Orleans.

Brian Sime

Chief Financial Officer

Brian joined the FINANTA team in 2013 with extensive professional experience in nonprofit and for-profit accounting and financial management, with a long-term track record of organizational financial accuracy and efficiency.  As CFO, Brian is responsible for all accounting, finance, and loan servicing operations, as well as, financial systems and procedures . Originally from England, Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

 

Kersy Azocar

Vice President of Microlending

Kersy joined the FINANTA team in 2008, bringing over 12 years of experience in the financial services industry.  Prior to FINANTA, Kersy worked as a mortgage loan consultant at PHH Mortgage Corporation.  As VP of Microlending, Kersy directs the implementation, management, coordination, and delivery of microlending for first-time entrepreneur, consumer, and homebuyer borrowers in FINANTA’s innovative Affinity Group Lending program. She is also responsible for providing lending services and technical assistance directly to clients. Originally from the Dominican Republic, Kersy holds a degree in General Studies from City College of New York, New York.

 

 

 

Michael Alles

Vice President of Lending

Michael joined the FINANTA team in 2014 with four years of experience in retail banking. As VP of Lending, Michael oversees beginning-to-end lending processes including technical assistance, underwriting, closing, and servicing for business and residential borrowers, and helps FINANTA develop nonprofit partnerships in the communities it serves. He assists with client development and provides loan packaging, project management, and other technical assistance as needed. Originally from Norristown, Michael holds a Bachelor of Political Science from Villanova University.

 

 

Peter Santiago

Vice President of Information Technology

Peter joined the FINANTA team in 2009, bringing over 35 of experience in information technology with him. Prior to FINANTA, Peter provided information technology consulting services to individuals, businesses, nonprofits, and law enforcement agencies. As VP of Information Technology, Peter manages FINANTA’s technology, including internet security and database processing.  Originally from Puerto Rico, Peter holds a Degree from Edison Schools Academy of Applied Science and a Degree in Computer Science from the Computer Learning Center.

Melissa Taina Santiago

Vice President of Technical Assistance

Taina joined FINANTA in 2015 with more than 18 years of experience in home purchasing training, mortgage foreclosure intervention and prevention, and credit counseling. As VP of Technical Assistance, she  provides pre-, mid-, and post-loan credit building training, financial coaching, and individualized, hands-on technical assistance to entrepreneurs, consumers, and first-time homebuyers.  Originally from Philadelphia, Taina holds a degree in Social Services from Community College of Philadelphia.

 

Pitou Chen

Assistant Vice President of Accounting and Real Estate Management

Pitou joined the FINANTA team in 2013 with several years of nonprofit accounting experience. As AVP of Accounting & Real Estate Management, he oversees loan servicing, accounting, and real estate maintenance. Originally from Cambodia, Pitou holds a Bachelor of International Business from Slippery Rock University and a post-baccalaureate certificate in Accounting from Saint Joseph’s University.

 

 

 

Carolin Jimenez

Assistant Vice President of Microlending

Carolin joined FINANTA in 2010 with seven years of experience in customer service and retail management.  As AVP of Microlending, Carolin implements and expands FINANTA’s microlending program, which is aimed at training and preparing groups of small business owners and consumers to build credit and borrow successfully. Originally from the Dominican Republic, Carolin holds an Associate Degree from Camden County Community College.

Roxanna Encarnación

Assistant Vice President of Microlending

Roxanna joined FINANTA in 2011 with several years of small business administration experience. As AVP of Microlending, she works directly with Affinity Group Lending clients, providing them with the skills, knowledge, and capital necessary to help them meet their financial goals. Originally from the Dominican Republic, Roxanna holds an Associates Degree in Engineering Science from the Community College of Philadelphia and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Chestnut Hill College.

Stella Tai

Assistant Vice President of Lending

Stella joined FINANTA in 2014 with over 10 years of experience providing accounting, lending, and technical assistance to nonprofits and entrepreneurs. As AVP of Lending, Stella handles beginning-to-end business borrower applications including technical assistance, underwriting, closing, and servicing.  Prior to FINANTA, Stella managed grant compliance and accounting for The Reinvestment Fund and Prism Career Institute. Originally from Kenya, Stella holds a Master of Economic Development from Eastern University and a Bachelor of Business and Marketing from the University of Nairobi in Kenya.

 

 

Frederick Rivera

Assistant Vice President of lending

Frederick joined FINANTA in 2008 with more than 30 years of experience in international small business development, residential mortgage lending, and consulting.  As AVP of Lending,  Frederick manages  mortgage lending functions targeting first-time homebuyers and provides credit-building services and homeownership counseling to individuals and families preparing to become homeowners.  In his prior role as a consultant, Frederick led projects involving first-time technology deployment, key personnel training, market analysis, product implementation, and sales training.  Originally from Puerto Rico, Frederick holds a Bachelor of Biology from the University of Puerto Rico.

Page Huey

Microlending Officer

Page joined FINANTA in 2017 with over 30 years of business expansion, relationship management, and workforce development.  As Microlending Officer, Page deploys Affinity Group Lending products and services, and provides technical assistance and training. Prior to FINANTA, Page led various economic development projects at a community development corporation targeting entrepreneurs.  Originally from Abington, Page holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from Temple University.

 

 

 

 

Kassandra Colón

Administrative Assistant

Kassandra joined the FINANTA team in May of 2018 with four years of experience in the education system in Philadelphia. She brings strong customer service and communications skills, interacting with clients on a regular basis. As an Administrative Assistant, Kassandra works on the day-to-day operations of the lending department, assisting loan officers with an array of requests. She works with loan servicing and data management software systems and prepares visuals for presentations to clients. She is able to take complex data and summarize it succinctly. Originally from Philadelphia, Kassandra holds a degree in Early Childhood Education from Eastern University.

 

Leidy Ramírez

Loan Servicing Officer

Leidy joined FINANTA in 2017 with more than 10 years of customer service and data entry experience. As the Loan Servicing Officer at FINANTA, she handles all loan servicing and post-closing loan management, processes loan payments, and provides customer service to borrowers. Dayiana Garcia

Financial Capability Officer

Dayiana joined the FINANTA team in 2015 with five years of experience in database and program coordination, and rental, credit, home purchasing, and post-homeowner counseling, and mortgage foreclosure intervention and prevention.  As Financial Capability Officer, she provides technical assistance to entrepreneurs, consumers, and homebuyers and coaches individuals to improve credit, and build assets. Originally from Puerto Rico, Dayiana holds a degree in Criminal Justice from Philadelphia Community College.

Peder wiegner

Vice PResident of Strategic Expansion

Peder joined the FINANTA team in 2018 with almost ten years of experience in the nonprofit sector in the US and Southeast Europe. As VP of Strategic Expansion, Peder will explore ways of expanding FINANTA’s products and services to a larger geographic area and help the organization become more self-sufficient. In 2016, he joined the CDFI industry’s national membership organization, Opportunity Finance Network (OFN). Peder served on the OFN Conference planning team—planning and managing the CDFI industry’s largest Expo, convening CDFI partners and service providers from across the country. Born and raised in Latin America, Peder has lived all over the world and traveled to three dozen countries. Peder studied Political Science and International Economic Development at Eastern University.
